Sustainable dental care completely plastic-free - 4 simple tips

Sustainable dental care made easy - 4 simple tips!

A healthy, bright smile and white teeth are considered the best advertisement. With a friendly and fresh smile you've almost won and go through the day with self-confidence.

Therefore, not only the right dental care is an important topic, but also the sustainability of the products you use. Unfortunately, most dental care products are still made of plastic today.

With our environmentally friendly alternative products, plastic waste can be easily reduced or even avoided. We'll show you how!

Virtually plastic-free dental care is easy to implement with the following four alternatives.

Bamboo Toothbrush

Whether an electric or manual toothbrush, this should of course not be missing in any bathroom.

Instead of reaching for a classic plastic toothbrush, there are already some sustainable alternatives, such as our bamboo toothbrushes.

Compared to a normal toothbrush, the handle of the bamboo toothbrush is completely plastic-free. The Bambuna toothbrush not only looks great and achieves brilliant cleaning results, it also has BPA-free quality bristles.

Sustainable dental floss made from corn starch

In addition to brushing your teeth, dentists recommend daily flossing to clean the gaps and thus prevent inflammation.

With commercial dental floss, plastic waste is unavoidable. It doesn't matter whether it's the packaging or the dental floss itself. And with every subsequent purchase, the same plastic waste is produced again.

A sustainable and plastic-free vegan alternative is dental floss made from corn starch. Candelilla wax is used as a coating instead of beeswax and comes in a refillable glass bottle.

Travel case made of bamboo

An alternative to plastic travel cases are travel cases made of bamboo. With these you can transport your toothbrush sustainably and hygienically thanks to special ventilation holes at both ends.

Have a look at our shop, because we have exactly this travel case made of bamboo in our range.

Make your own toothpaste

Have you ever taken a closer look at the ingredients in your toothpaste? If not, then you should do this once. You will be surprised how many ingredients are in a small tube of toothpaste that are harmful to your body.

Conventional toothpaste is almost always packaged in a plastic tube and contains microplastics that can get into our bodies.

Here is a recipe on how you can easily make toothpaste without artificial ingredients:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp organic coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp birch sugar - (xylitol)
  • 10 drops of organic peppermint oil

Preparation:

  1. Place the softened coconut oil and birch sugar in a small bowl and mix with a small spoon to form a paste.
  2. Add the peppermint oil and keep stirring.
  3. Taste and add a few more drops of peppermint oil if necessary.
  4. Pour into an airtight jar and seal.
  5. To brush your teeth, simply apply the desired amount of toothpaste to the toothbrush with a small spatula.

What are you thinking about that?

As you can see, when it comes to dental care, there are simple steps you can take to make your bathroom more sustainable. Because even if plastic has unfortunately become almost as integral a part of our lives as daily dental care - we do not need plastic for effective tooth cleaning.
