1 order = 1 tree

Every contribution counts

More than 10 million hectares of tropical forests are cleared every year, which means that the most biodiverse ecosystem on earth is increasingly being destroyed. This destruction causes many different problems for humans and animals.

A few figures illustrate how bad the situation for many people is as a result of deforestation:

  • 25% of the population of Nepal lives below the poverty line, of which about 70% depend on the forest, in Kenya it is even 45% who live below the poverty line
  • Only 10% of the original forests in Madagascar still exist, in Haiti only 2%
  • 40% of mangrove forests in Indonesia have been cut down in the last 3 decades

We want to prevent the disappearance of tropical forests and have found a future-proof solution: For every order placed in our shop, we plant a tree !

You don't have to do anything else

By ordering your sustainable products from Bambuna, you automatically support the reforestation of our forests and contribute to the regeneration of biodiversity. There are no additional expenses or additional costs for you.

We looked for a reliable partner for this project: Eden Reforestation Projects

The non-profit organization has been planting native trees in tropical areas together with the local population since 2004. And exactly where deforestation has robbed habitat and protection. It thus ensures the reforestation of the most diverse and important forests in the world. To this end, Eden Reforestation Projects works specifically for people who live in regions that are affected by deforestation. The organization hires the local population for a fixed salary in the tree nurseries, gives them the technical knowledge and equips them with all the tools they need.

Which project we support together

Together with you we make the world a better place where our help benefits people and the environment the most. The trees encourage the diversity of wildlife, improve coastlines and provide fair rewards to local people. Mangrove trees are planted, which bind an extraordinary amount of carbon dioxide. Eden Reforestation Projects has planted over 977 million trees and now YOU are a part of it!

Why mangroves?

Mangroves are also enormously productive ecosystems and absorb on average three to five times more CO2 than terrestrial forests. Mangroves, and coastal wetlands in general, are of global importance due to the many services they provide to us humans and the planet. This includes protection against storm surges, nursery areas for fish and other marine life, the provision of building materials and firewood and an important contribution to stabilizing the global climate as an important carbon store.

habitat restoration

With forest destruction, wildlife species lose their natural habitat and are forced to relocate, reducing their chances of survival. With over 200 species of mammals, 100 species of lemurs, 300 species of birds and almost 300 species of amphibians, Madagascar is one of the world's most important protected areas. About ninety percent of all wildlife in Madagascar is endemic. Our work with Eden protects these wildlife species in Madagascar by restoring their natural habitats.
